Sukhna lake…a man made beauty
Few days back, I came to Chandigarh to visit a friend. Yesterday afternoon, it was raining and one of my friend asked me to accompany him for a stroll. It was actually not decided where to go. Then when we reach the rickshaw stand, we decided to go to the Sukhna Lake. It was Sunday and the place was crowded with people of every class. Well, the place was a real beauty. There were couples, then there were families, some have come for a run, some for a walk and some they just came for no specific reason. The boundary of the lake which is properly maintained stretches for around 2 Km. It had just rained; the air was cold, the sky cloudy and the sun about to set in an hour. The view of the lake is just exotic, it is the best view I came across in the past few months. Around the lake, Indian classical music is played from numerous speakers. When you sit by the lake, watching the small waves formed in the surface of the lake and the music in the background, it seems like the waves and the music is synchronised. Just by watching it, I just felt relaxed. The other side of the lake is densely inhibited by trees and bushes, far beyond the lake there are different shades of trees, light green first and then it turns to dark green. Beyond the trees there lie the mountain ranges of Kasauli. This adds to the beauty of the lake which is absolutely stunning. When it grew darker you can see the light sparkling from the mountains like the jewel embedded on the mountain. To get the real picture of what I am talking about one should once visit the lake in the evening after it rained, then you would know what I am really talking about.
